Abstract
We evaluated the clinical result and recovery of sports activity of arthroscopic double-bundle PCL reconstruction using Achilles allograft tendon and transtibial technique. From Feb. 2003 to Mar. 2005, there were 22 patients who have taken arthroscopic double bundle reconstruction using split Achilles allograft tendon on PCL injury. The average age was 29.7 years and the average follow-up period was 18.2 months. The clinical result has been evaluated by using Telos stress arthrometer, Lysholm knee score, Tegner activity scores, and IKDC scores. The quadriceps and hamstrings strength were measured using Biodex System II(Biodex, New York, NY). The clinical results showed that significant improvement. Peak torque and total work at postoperative were significantly greater than at preoperative. The PCL injuries were successfully treated with arthroscopic double-bundle reconstruction using split Achilles allograft. But long term follow up with large number of cases will be necessary.
